Tower Christian School: What It Is and Isn’t
We believe Christian home education is a legitimate and exciting option for educating our children. We believe that God is at work in this arena shaping both parents and students. He is interested in accomplishing more in our lives and families than just the academic development of children. The picture is broader and more comprehensive than that. It will be exciting for each home educating family to discover the particular family masterpiece God is creating in them through the tool called “home education.” In light of these beliefs, the following is shared:

|
| TCS Is..... designed to provide support services to parents seeking to home educate their children by providing private school enrollment, record keeping aids, support meetings, newsletter, teacher aid resource library and a few student activities as defined in the yearly brochure |
TCS Is Not...designed to organize or provide group classes for home educated students or drop off events. We do provide an opportunity to meet other families with whom you can organize group events. If a family wishes to organize an activity and offer it to other families or students we can facilitate their efforts by announcing such classes at meetings and in the newsletter. We do not have a curriculum lending library. |

| TCS Is... a school with a general code of conduct and statement of faith that all members must sign and abide by. This code of conduct describes some general Biblical guidelines for behavior. It is the boards responsibility to decide on the precise application of these guidelines and to refine and adjust them if needed. |
TCS Is Not...a school with a voting membership, primarily for efficiency reasons. The staff and board want to hear the ideas, comments and desires of various members, preferably in writing. (They will more likely get remembered that way; for all Board and Staff members, running the school is and should be a low priority, they have families to raise, jobs to do and church life too.) Hearing your input helps us to hear the heart of God in the various decisions that come our way. Please share. |

| TCS Is... a non-profit corporation run by a board of directors for the non-voting membership. Final decision making authority lies with the board of directors who after prayer and receiving input from interested parties will make any necessary policy decisions. The board has designated certain decision making power to various staff positions respective to their job descriptions. A good way to understand how TCS works is that, as long as things are kept within the frame work of the by laws, budget, statement of faith and purpose , the people who carry the responsibility and do the work make the decisions. |

| TCS Is.... a school where the work is accomplished by a small part-time-pay staff and a large number of volunteers. The board decides when and if a job has grown large enough in terms of number of hours worked to be a paid position. The designated paid and volunteer staff are required to perform only the tasks outlined in the brochure as available for a given year. |
TCS Is Not... a school where the staff has the responsibility of providing any other activity desired by members besides those listed in the yearly brochure. If other activities occur, and many do, it is because a member has volunteered to coordinate and lead it. We have had many people bless us all with wonderful things over the years. This does mean, however, that a volunteer lead event that happens one year may not happen the next year if there are no volunteers. |

| TCS Is... operated mainly on tuition funds and some personal donations. Donations are welcome and tax deductible. We believe that each family has the personal freedom to educate their children as they see fit in the Lord. They also have the responsibility to fund that education through God's provision. We bbelieve that for families that are struggling financially, it is right for other people to make donations toward their tuition costs and HSLDA fees. The treasurer is only responsible to do the banking and bookkeeping for every service listed in the yearly brochure. |
TCS Is Not... a school that does fund raising events beyond receiving donations. The teasurer is not available for doing the banking or bookkeeping for any other events than those listed in the yearly brochure. People who want to coordinate special classes, school fund raisers, etc. must operate these events through their personal bank accounts. |

| TCS Is... a school that is willing to grow in numbers as long as there is a need. The Full Member enrollment limit for each year will be set by the Board. Our intent is to provide enrollment space for new home educating families so we will probably grow larger each year if the need exists. At this time there is no final limit to the size we might eventually become. There is no size limit for limited enrollment and it is open year round. |
TCS Is Not... setting a maximum enrollment limit. going to have an open ended number of Full Member spaces each season that it is open for enrollment. The Board will determine the number of additional open slots each year, increasing the school's total enrollment of Full Members in a measured way as long as the need exists and the meeting facilities can accommodate such number. |
