Frequently Asked Questions about Tower Christian School How much does it cost? The cost per family for the school year 2007-8 will be $205. There is a ONE time, non-refundable application fee of $25. If joining after August 15, the application fee is $50. What about a Diploma? Your child's high school diploma will be issued based on your authority and the fulfillment of your prescribed requirements for graduation. TCS is not a diploma granting institution. Most California home educators enroll their children in an independent study program at a private school. Tower Christian School has filed an affidavit with the State Of California. How many families usually are admitted each year? Tower Christian school does not have an enrollment cap. In the past, the average enrollment has been around 110 families in full membership. Each year around 15% of the families do not re-enroll. What is Full Membership? Full membership includes activities and enrollment services. What is Limited Membership? Enrollment services only which include: Recond keeping and being listed as a member under the Tower Christian School affidavit. How many children are enrolled in each grade level? Depending on the grade level and year, the average amount of children per grade per year fluxuates between 15 -30 students. Do my kids have to take the SAT or CAT achivement tests? No. There is no law in California that requires children in a private school to take these tests. However, testing services are available in the Fresno area for a fee. How often am I expected to go to teachers' meetings? Full membership members are required to attend all 10 teacher's meetings. When and where do these meetings take place? The teachers meetings are held on the first or second Friday of most months. The November meeting is on a Saturday night while the June meeting is on a Monday night. August meeting is a Saturday luncheon. No meeting in December or July. The meetings are usually held at Valley Christian Center (map) in the All Purpose Room. (map) Meeting times? There are two meeting groups, one group meets from 2:30 - 4:15 PM and the other group meets from 6:45 - 8:30 PM. What am I expected to bring to the teachers' meeting? Attendance information, personal calendar, checkbook or cash to pay for field trips and other activities. What activities does T.C.S. sponser? Field trips, park days, school parties, and a youth group. Other activities occur when various parents volunteer to lead them. Some examples from the past have been, theater group, dance group, robotics group, history class and yearbook. |
